Norman Foster's life has been characterised by a constant quest for innovation, both in his professional career and in his personal life. Born in 1935 in Manchester to blue-collar parents, Foster abandoned his studies in his youth to work, but his passion for architecture drove him to resume his studies and move to the United States to further his education at the famous Yale University.
Returning to England in 1965, Foster founded the firm Team 4 together with his first wife Wendy, the Italian architect Richard Rogers and the latter's wife Susan Jane. Since then, his career has been marked by numerous successes, including the founding of Foster Associates, now known as Foster + Partners, one of the world's most innovative and successful architectural firms.
But innovation has not only been a constant element in Foster's professional life: in his personal life too, the architect has always sought to redefine the concept of lifestyle and design. His passion for travel and technology led him to develop innovative ideas to improve people's living experience, such as the creation of sustainable homes and offices and the use of innovative materials such as structural glass.
