In 1972, Bellini made a major appearance at the MoMA in New York with the exhibition 'Italy. The New Domestic Landscape', where he presented the 'Kar-a-sutra', an automobile that revolutionised the concept of habitability. During the 1970s, he collaborated with some of the biggest Italian and European companies, such as Cassina, Flos and Vitra, demonstrating his ability to create timeless design elements.
In the 1980s, Bellini concentrated increasingly on architectural design, creating extraordinary buildings such as the Exhibition and Congress Centre at Villa Erba Park in Cernobbio, the Tokyo Design Centre and the New Pavilions of the Milan Trade Fair at Portello.
