The Taccia lamp: versatile and iconic design
A unique-looking piece of furniture that adapts to every environment and situation
The Taccia lamp has a structure with rather singular characteristics. Observing it, one can in fact notice the juxtaposition of shapes that seem to belong to different historical epochs. The cylindrical aluminium base is reminiscent of an ancient column, the purpose of which is to support the parabolic lampshade, within which a light source is positioned. The main quality of this furnishing component is certainly its versatility: it can be used both as a floor lamp and as a table lamp.
Ode to practicality
A designer lamp to suit different tastes
Elegant and functional, this indoor lamp is suitable for all kinds of uses. Its attractive design is enhanced by its practicality, making it suitable for a variety of contexts. Thanks to its unique lines and the use of experimental materials, this lamp has become a design icon.
Effective forms, the 1960s
Essential and refined: Taccia table lamp
Taccia belongs to an era characterised by minimalist design, the entire structure being formed by the union of two elementary figures. Despite its simplicity, however, it is possible to see how the lamp manages to lend a certain elegance to its surroundings, be it a living room or an office.
Soft atmosphere
Taccia indirect light indoor lamp
The sophistication of this iconic Made in Italy creation is not only determined by its shape and the materials used. Another distinctive feature of the Flos lamp is the indirect lighting it produces thanks to the iconic parabola-shaped shade, which contributes to creating an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere.
Information
An iconic project
The Taccia table lamp, a unique design.
In 1958, the Castiglioni brothers wanted to create a unique lamp, which soon became a classic of Italian design and a symbol of the minimalist aesthetics of the 1960s. To do this they carried out various studies using plastic, which in the early stages of the project formed the structure of the lampshade. The Taccia lamp was awarded the Compasso d'Oro, Italy's most prestigious design award, in 1967 and won numerous other international prizes. Today, the Taccia lamp is still produced by Flos and is sold worldwide as a contemporary design classic.
